Free-Ride & Backcountry Development Camps

Come explore our unique corner of the world with the ultimate Island ski and snowboard smorgasbord. In this week long camp we will take your off-piste skiing or snowboarding skills to the next level with Section 8′s signature coaching then begin to explore the serene backcountry of Vancouver Island.

 

Course Overview:

This course is suitable for intermediate to expert skiers and boarders who have an interest in venturing off the beaten track. Whether you are just gaining the courage to venture off the groomers or you are a seasoned off-piste pro, our coaches will push your ability to the next level and help you safely explore the backcountry giving you an unforgettable experience.

We begin the week by building your skills and confidence with a focus on off-piste skiing and boarding at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, home of the truly massive snow pack.  At the end of the day you can relax in your luxury ski in ski out chalet or soak in the hot tub while you await your dinner of fresh local cuisine prepared by your chalet hosts.  The comfort and convenience of your on mountain accommodations will allow you to rest and recharge effectively, making sure you’re ready for more the next day.

By day 5 we begin to dip our toes into the backcountry to test your new skills before taking a road trip North to Mount Cain where easy access to spectacular backcountry touring lies just beyond your rustic cabin. A trip to Mount Cain is like stepping back in time and will allow you to leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind.

Weather permitting we have the option to add a day of helicopter access ski touring to explore deep into Vancouver Island’s remote and rugged mountain wilderness.

We finish off the week relaxing on the waterfront telling adventurous tales at a cozy bed and breakfast in the Comox Valley.

 

Prices:

Course Cost: $2,900 CAD plus taxes = $3,248CAD

(Per person based on double occupancy)

Course cost:$3,200 CAD plus taxes = $3,584 CAD

(Per person based on single occupancy)

Optional Helicopter access ski touring: $800 CAD + Taxes = $896 CAD

(Available weather permitting)

(A non-refundable deposit of $1000 CAD is required to book a space)

What is Included?

Expert coaching and guiding from highly qualified Section 8 instructors and mountain guides

8 nights of Accommodation (Including 5 nights in a luxury chalet at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, 2 nights in a rustic Cabin at Mount Cain, one night in a waterfront bed and breakfast in the Comox Valley.)

Half board including daily breakfast and dinner (except for dinner on final night)

Tranfers from the Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) and all transportation within the course

Lift passes for the week

Touring gear & avalanche rescue equipment rentals (if required)
