Section 8 Snowsport Institute - SLT - Snowsport Leadership Training

Extra Curricular Activities

Our "Snowsport Leadership Training" and "Basic Training" programs are more than just ski/snowboard instructor courses or leadership training programs. They are an opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of Vancouver Island and the Canadian West Coast. For this reason we try to keep you busy on days off with organized activities, road trips and adventures.

We make trips to Vancouver Island's other funky ski hill, Mt. Cain, or head to the south end of the Island for a pub crawl in Victoria, British Columbia's capitol city.

A trip to Western Canada wouldn't be complete without heading over to the mainland and taking in an NHL hockey game in downtown Vancouver or a whale watching / surf trip to Tofino / Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim National Park (Yes, it is cold but an experience not to be missed!)

Other opportunities include caving, bungy jumping, Heli-skiing or heli-boarding, golfing, playing ice hockey, hanging out in the climbing gym, exploring First Nations culture, dancing, mountain biking, swimming, cross country skiing, sea kayaking, extreme beer croquet, and just about anything else you can think of doing on an island in the middle of winter...

Oh yeah, for great parties and live music, Fat Teddy's pub is where everyone on the mountain ends up and it is just a short stumble away form the accommodations. Otherwise there is plenty going on in the towns of the Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland, just a 25 minute drive away.

Feel like adding an extra week onto your ski or snowboard training course and taking some surf lessons on Canada's rugged west coast.

Note* We do our best to offer optional activities for discounted rates or free where possible, however, there are additional costs for many of these activities.
